Why do I need to create a free account?
So your settings stay safely stored and you only ever have to enter them once. Your profile holds your preferred charging networks and favorite brands, saved just once. With an account, your preferences live securely on the server — so your filters survive clearing your browser cache, and you never have to re-enter them on the road. Good to know: we don’t build movement profiles and don’t keep a history. The moment you enter a new destination, the old one is immediately and irreversibly overwritten. For iOS users, the account is also the necessary bridge that lets Shortcuts and Siri instantly reach your active destination and preferences from outside the app.
What data sources do you use for places and charging stations?
We rely 100% on OpenStreetMap (OSM) — the world’s open-source map. That’s a big advantage for you: the data is maintained by a huge community, and we refresh our own dataset regularly. Missing your favorite charger, or a restaurant detail that’s wrong? You can fix or add the entry directly on OpenStreetMap, and it’ll be corrected in the web app at our next data update.
Does this web app replace my car’s navigation or Google Maps?
No, and it’s not meant to. Your usual navigation still gets you to your destination as always. Our web app is your smart in-between-stop finder: it calculates the perfect charging stop along your route exactly when you need it. You then just hand the suggested charger’s address to your preferred navigation app.
Does it work without an iPhone or iOS Shortcuts?
Yes, absolutely! The app is a full web app that runs directly in the browser on any smartphone (Android, iOS), tablet, or PC. You can enter your destination and searches through the interface anytime. iPhone users just get the extra convenience of running the search even faster via Siri or a Shortcut while driving.
Is my data used for marketing purposes?
No, not at all. Registering and storing data on the server is purely for technical functionality — keeping your personal charging preferences and current destination available for your searches. We don’t sell data and don’t use it for advertising. See our privacy policy for details.
Do I need to set up a vehicle profile with battery capacity and charging curve?
No. DC fast chargers are common enough today to be at nearly every highway exit, so EjOCharge deliberately doesn’t rely on an exact, vehicle-specific range calculation. Just say roughly how far away you want your next stop — your car already shows you its remaining range.
Does EjOCharge work offline?
No. The calculation runs server-side, partly because it needs current charger and route data. An internet connection is required.
Can I use EjOCharge on multiple devices?
Yes. Since nothing is stored locally on the device, just sign in with your account on each device.
